Gun Violence

There will always be guns in our world, because nations require them in order to protect themselves. Guns shall not exist on the street though, they're too dangerous for that. If I can create a ideal society without gun violence, there are several things that I will do. First of all, I would work on the law, no one is allowed to have guns except soldiers and police. This would be helpful for the community since it's secure. I will work on the economy and education. With good economy, crime rate will be low. With low crime rate, gun violence would be reduced too. My educational system will include lessons about violence. The kids will learn how guns harm and kill people, so they won't want to be possess them. I will try to destroy the black market for weapons so people can't get them illegally. People want to feel safe, so I will encourage them to hold tasers which can not kill people but injure them. People who own guns will be punished. I hope this system can make sure that gun violence is vanished.

How are you going to make sure the guns don't go on the streets. Even nowadays some people in the military are selling arms to civilians.

But then, that's what some countries did before, then the soldiers and cops started to think they are superior, and they will push us around, and it would be difficult to do anything. But I guess it's impossible to have no guns in the world.><

Nice. I like the idea of getting people alternate means of protection. However, a ban on guns would be difficult to uphold, and black markets could just go deeper underground.

Very good thinking Justin. I think that I absolutely agree with you, guns should not exist on the streets. It is quite dangerous. However i am afraid that it will be quite a challenge to eliminate guns in such countries like the US...

You have made some great suggestions - education seems to be the key to most problems that we face in today's society. I guess the thing to consider is WHAT type of education will be provided and from whose point of view this will be seen from! Remember the whole problem with consensus building in the UN?

I agree with Jesse. I think we need more specific plans. How will you block underground market and all? There are some incredible ways to smuggle small arms.
